This course introduces concepts regarding people’s travel decisions and behaviours through information technologies. In particular, the course is designed to allow students to gain a solid understanding about different aspects of travel activities, while utilizing technologies to make better travel decisions. The course is composed of four main modules: motivations and theories for leisure travel, special interest tourism and technology, information technology usage in tourism, and smart tourism case study. Through lectures, in-class discussions, case sharing, and homework assignments, students will learn how travel decisions and behaviors can be mediated through the usage of smart technologies. Student performance is evaluated through attendance, in-class participation, assignments, and the exam.
